Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
In association with British Triathlon, Westcroft Tri Club is committed to ensuring that triathlon is accessible and attractive to the widest audience.
We are committed to the principle of equality of opportunity and aims to ensure that all present and potential participants, members, coaches, competitors, officials, volunteers, spectators and employees are treated fairly are able to fulfil their potential within the sport, irrespective of sex, age, disability, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, gender reassignment or social status.
Westcroft Triathlon Club comprises of a good mix of female and male members ranging from the age of 8 upwards and we have always looked to being friendly and welcoming to all. As a community club, our key aim is to make the sport of triathlon accessible to all members of our community and we minimize potential financial barriers by offering low membership fees and free volunteer-led coaching.
We recently carried out socio demographic research based upon the London Borough of Sutton’s statistics and believe that this does not reflect the club’s socio demographic make -up. This has highlighted the need to proactively embark upon a Diversity and Inclusion strategy that seeks to proactively inform, target and welcome members from more diverse communities.
In this regard we have created a Diversity and Inclusion Charter and throughout the year we will be celebrating our focus on Diversity and Inclusion with Tulika Oommen, our Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador, delivering a program of events linked to our social marketing calendar which will be available shortly.
