WTC Training Sessions
SWIM SESSIONS
Tuesdays 7pm – 8pm
Masters swim session at Westcroft Leisure Centre.
Thursdays 7pm – 8pm
Masters swim session at Cheam Leisure Centre.
Thursdays 9pm – 10pm
WTC swim session at Cheam Leisure Centre
Saturdays 8am – 9 am
Masters swim session at Westcroft Leisure Centre.
Between two and four lanes are available and swimmers are assigned lanes according to ability.
Each session typically includes up to 3000 metres of drills and intervals, with slower swimmers typically covering 2000 metres.
BIKE SESSIONS
Each week the Club runs a coached spin session and an uncoached Club ride, if there is demand.
Indoor spin session – every Wednesday evening at Westcroft Leisure Centre 6.45pm – 7.45pm, coached by WTC. Everyone Active membership or pay-as-you-go required.
(High tempo session with a wide range of intervals)
Club Ride – Sunday morning from Westcroft Leisure Centre. Meet around 8:30 am. If there are sufficient rides turning up, groups will be split by anticipated average speed. This is normally a two to three hour circular ride to locations such as the Surrey Hills or Richmond Park. Details of each week’s ride are posted on our WTC Members WhatsApp group so please check before turning up.
Club Ride Safety and Rules
To ensure the safety of all riders, participants should:
- Report any medical conditions, allergies or injuries to the ride leader
- Exchange contact and emergency numbers with the ride leader
- Carry a puncture repair kit, spare inner tube and pump
- Wear high visibility clothing
- Wear approved cycle helmets (ANSI Z90.4, SNELL B90, EN 1078 or equivalent national standard). This is compulsory and the ride leader will not take anyone out that is not wearing one.
RUN SESSIONS
We are not holding any coached run sessions at present but we meet monthly at Nonsuch Park Run in Cheam and occasionally organise sessions with Collingwood Athletics Club. Details are given in the WTC members WhatsApp group.
GYM SESSIONS
There are no regular gym sessions but both Westcroft Leisure Centre and Cheam Leisure Centre have fully fitted gyms with all the equipment you need to help your training.
We run specific 6 week Strength and Conditioning sessions twice a year, so look out for details on our WTC Members WhatsApp group.
Go Tri Couch to Sprint Triathlon in 12 weeks
Do you want to try a triathlon? Over 12 weeks, Westcroft Triathlon Club will get you ready for your first sprint distance triathlon: 426m pool swim, 21km bike and 5km run.
When
The course starts on Saturday 15th February 2020 and finishes at the Thames Turbo sprint triathlon on Friday 8th May 2020.
Schedule
Three sessions per week to build your confidence, skills and fitness:
Run – Saturday 8.30am to 10am at Nonsuch Parkrun. As the evenings get lighter, midweek coached run skills sessions will be added.
Bike – Wednesday 7.30pm to 8.30pm spin class at Westcroft Leisure Centre. As the winter turns to spring, group rides on Sunday morning and cycle skills training on Sunday afternoon at David Weir Leisure Centre will be added.
Swim – Thursday 9pm to 10pm at Cheam Leisure Centre.
Cost
£50, which includes all coaching and a year’s membership to Westcroft Triathlon Club. The fee does not include the Thames Turbo race entry fee and leisure centre usage fees will be payable for some sessions.
